Does anyone else find it so difficult to stay updated on PR trends? I don’t know about you- but there is already so much reading in my classes that it’s hard finding time to sit down and sift through PR news. At the end of the day, this IS one of the best ways to learn and we need to stay active in this industry community. So we took some time and asked our members what their favorite websites are to read when they have some down time. Here is what they said.
A helpful tip for you- choose your favorite website from this list and set it as your homepage. Whenever you open your browser, you’ll be forced to check out PR news. It’s a great way to force yourself to read up and seem more impressive to employers, teachers, and even your PRSSA friends!
- PRSAY
“The Voice of Public Relations.” This is the official blog of the largest organizations of public relations professionals (our father company, PRSA). The cool thing about this blog is actually the comments. PRSA encourages people to comment and have conflicting ideas so make sure you always scroll to the bottom of the posts and watch things get heated!
- PR WEEK
This is one of the best sources for timely, authoritative, insightful content to navigate the PR landscape. The best part? It’s heavily relied on by industry professionals, and some even say you can’t really be in the field without reading it. It’s pretty newsy, but I set this as my homepage which makes it easier to read about the most current, impactful information.
- SPINSUCKS
https://spinsucks.com/site/about-spin-sucks/
This website’s goal is to “Win the fight against destructive spin!” Not going to lie, not everyone understands or appreciates our career choice. Some of those haters think we lie for a living about brands just to make them look better (say what?). Spinsucks is on a mission to fight the perception of the PR industry by providing expert information on current issues and trends, advertising, social media, and more. They also do in-depth analyses on astroturfing, bad PR practices, and unethical professionals, while providing ideas on how to make these case studies better.
- RAGAN’S PR DAILY
https://www.prdaily.com/Main/Home.aspx
This one is an industry hub with everything the modern PR pro needs to keep their job current. The content included how-to’s, videos, e-books, career development, and think pieces. It’s also known plain and simple as PR Daily.
- PR COUTURE
If you are a young woman in the PR field, you need to check out this trendy site right now. PR Couture gives you the best on PR/Agency life, press/outreach information, career support, industry news, and DIY PR. There’s even courses to take and a PR Couture clothing line!
